Course Curriculum

Why an 'Uncommon Leadership Program'? In 2021, the HR leader of a global company asked if deloop could offer specific leadership trainings adding increasingly relevant topics on to their existing development programs:

Crisis Leadership, Leading and Working Across Cultures, Leading Generational Diversity, Leading through Intrinsic Motivators, Coaching Skills, Leadership in a VUCA World - those were the trainings that were developed along with new models and tools based on recent scientific findings.

Participants kept recommending them and more trainings were held highlighting both the importance of and the demand for building up these specific leadership skills.

Hearing the feedbacks was encouraging so all six parts were together into deloop’s new half-year blended learning curriculum ‘The Uncommon Leadership Program’.
You are welcome to join!

The Six Parts explained

… Part 1) leading through intrinsic motivators

Understand the influencing factors of the ‘The Trust Cycle' and learn how to create psychological safety in your team. Use practical tools to discover deeper motivational forces and strengthen your skills to tap into your own and your team’s true intrinsic motivators and use your full power and potential to perform at your best.

… Part 2) leading people that are a lot older or younger

Fast changes in technologies and in society have led to changing values, ways of connecting and working. Learn more about how today’s diverse generations in the workplace show different preferences and how to best communicate and collaborate. Use our self-assessment tool to become more aware of bias and assumptions. Learn how to change perspective and build mutual mentoring relationships to use this new kind of diversity as a strength to succeed in today’s and tomorrow’s marketplace.

… Part 3) leading people from diverse cultures

Most teams today are culturally diverse teams or work with stakeholders from different continents and countries who have very different behaviours, preferences and values. Learning to see, understand, and collaborate with each other can be challenging as most of it is subconscious and taken-for-granted. Our self-assessments and tools will help you see how you personally differ from both your own and other country cultures, how to build trust and connection across cultural divides, learn from each other, and communicate and work successfully as a team.

… Part 4) leading, coaching, peer coaching

You know the basic concepts and tools of coaching. You have used them in your leadership practice and found that building a coaching relationship with your team is not so easy. Learn how to become a better listener and how put your team members in the drivers’ seat so you can more easily take the role of their coach.

… Part 5) leading and communicating in times of crisis

Understand your personal crisis reactions and behavior, strengthen your inner balance and learn how to steer teams through rough patches. Use our cisis-behavior self-assessment tool and get concrete hints far personal growth. Understand the success factors in crisis communication, and use tools that help people take of ownership in challenging situations and actively drive solutions.

… Part 6) leadership in a VUCA world

For some people and countries Volatile/Uncertain/Complex/Ambiguous - VUCA has been the normal for a long time. For others it may look like a new normal. Organizations and teams supposed to be smart together under VUCA conditions often end up working against each other. We have simulated teams in complex situations and put together the leadership skills required to enable teams and organizations to learn how to stay connected in situations that have the potential to divide and build the bridges they need to perform together.

Hi, my name is Gerald,

I’m here as your travel guide to learning and change helping you reach your goals. I’m a German engineer by education and a passionate change leadership coach and performing artist. Living in Germany, Australia and now Shanghai has allowed me to work with people from all Europe, the US, China, Japan, Australia, Korea, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and more. After my Mechanical Engineering (PhD) studies in Chemnitz I started working for Daimler in Stuttgart in 1991 and soon became member in Dieter Zetsche’s change management team. That’s when I began to study culture change, leadership coaching, group dynamics, psychology and transactional analysis. I had the invaluable opportunity to directly learn from most advanced scholars like Edgar H. Schein, David Kantor, Larry Hirschhorn, Wolfgang Looss, Hans Jellouschek, Claus Otto Scharmer, Matthias Varga von Kibed, Richard Timel and more. In 1999 I co-founded deloop management consulting in Stuttgart and in 2015 deloop management consulting Asia. I was fortunate enough to coach many leaders and leadership teams of different cultures globally in companies like DAIMLER, HEIDELBERGER Druck, ATLAS, Lufthansa, HERAEUS, BMW, VW, Evonic, PORSCHE, ASAM, DÜRR, HERAEUS, DEUTSCHE BAHN, Raiffeisen Bank, Rolls Royce and more. My Executive Programs include: Hernstein General Management Program (HGMP) in Vienna, Corporate Entrepreneurship in China (CEIC) with innova in Shanghai, and projects in APAC with OSB international

Participant voices

'Thanks Gerald, I really liked the training, as the content was provided in a very professional manner. Essential tools for leaders and their meaning comprised and easy to digest. In combination with self-learning, peer coaching and your support a very valuable approach I can clearly recommend to leaders and future leaders!', Frederic Buehler, Germany

'The format, the group sessions, the time blocks for learning are really good, no overload in a short amount of time. I was skeptical at the start, and then got the most out of a short period of time. There are easy to understand videos and cloud content - books wouldn’t have worked. The course offers good balance between preparation, workshops, slides, less words, all well considered. When I knew you were going to hold the training it was an easy decision knowing your Australia background and understanding of our culture’ Mark Crotty and team, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Australia

‘The program for me was the perfect start for a) understanding how I could be a more effective, empathic leader, and b) starting my own future journey of being a coach / trainer to others. Gerald is an incredibly inspiring human being who combines patience, experience, professionalism, honesty and humility that I have rarely seen in people with his credentials. I recommend the course to anyone looking for self-development opportunities towards being a better leader, or simply, being a better human being.’, Nitin Dani, India, working in Shanghai'

I’ve had the chance to attend Gerald's course last year. And the experience has been extremely formative and interesting. Gerald combines years of experience in leadership coaching, vision of the future (what futures leaders will need to succeed) and deep knowledge of the character behavior. This allows him to grasp every nuance of the attendants, shaping the better suggestions for everyone. Moreover, the diversity of topics, the way the course is structured, the participation of colleagues with different experiences, makes it very attractive. Last but not least, Gerald is a very nice person, with many sides that are a pleasure to discover little by little. Highly recommended.' - Vittorio Blasi, Italy, working in Germany
